Since 1995 our trust has run residential ashram schools in Dondaicha for children of Vimukta Jati and Nomadic Tribe (VJNT) families. With a grant from the Government of Maharashtra, every child studies, eats and lives here free, from Std 1 to Std 12.
Our story
Shri Hitendra Raghunath Mahale founded Janjagrut Shikshan Prasarak Sanstha in 1995 with one aim: no child in Dondaicha and the villages around it should leave school because the family cannot pay or the school is too far away. Most of our children come from Vimukta Jati and Nomadic Tribe families who move for work, so our schools are ashram schools: the children live, eat and study on one campus, aided by the Government of Maharashtra.

Our schools
A child who joins us in Std 1 can live and study with us until Std 12, with the same teachers knowing them all the way.
Named after Smt. Manjula Raghunath Mahale (श्रीमती मंजुळा रघुनाथ महाले), the founder's mother. The trust's junior college for Arts and Science, so students from Dondaicha and nearby villages can finish Std 12 close to home.
How the schools run
Our three ashram schools are recognised and aided under the Government of Maharashtra's residential ashram school scheme for Vimukta Jati and Nomadic Tribe (VJNT) children, run by the Other Backward Bahujan Welfare Department (इतर मागास बहुजन कल्याण विभाग).

Hostel life
Many of our students come from families who travel for seasonal work. The hostel gives them meals, a bed, a quiet place to study and adults who look after them.
